Although Shipwrecks Inc. was only recently incorporated (January, 2024), the planning behind it goes back decades. The idea was and is to have a properly funded company that specializes in the salvage of shipwrecks for profit and does the work to site appropriate archaeological protocols.

Shipwreck Inc.’s Chief Operating Officer is Dr. E. Lee Spence, who was one of the early pioneers of underwater archaeology and is internationally known for his extremely detailed research and many discoveries & recoveries. He has over 60 years of experience researching and discovering shipwrecks and has organized and led past expeditions that have collectively recovered over a million individual artifacts, ranging from true treasure (including rare & beautiful jewelry, gold & silver coins & bullion), to merchandise (everything from brass sewing pins, to Wedgwood china), weapons (knives, swords, muskets, pistols, & cannons), even medicines (such as opiates, salves & tonics). On one expedition, Spence and his crew brought up bottles & cases of wine; Veuve Clicquot and G.H. Mumms Champagne; as well as Dewars and Whyte & McKay Scotch, from a Great Lakes freighter sunk in 1913. Spence fully expects Shipwrecks Inc. to have similar successes.
